Fleeting moment
a piece of poetry
This morning I woke after a restless night, more tired than usual. My meditation practice went on too long as the desire to sit inside a blank page felt more peaceful than the turbulent winds inside of me. I nestled myself inside a white cozy blanket with the fire to my back, and glanced outside the window in delight of an ever brightening blue sky.
Squirrel hobbles along
the snow topped fence
leaving traces of
wandering tracks
round bellied robin
sits perched
among a frozen
crabapple tree
red necked grebe flies
in a dancing swoop
landing on the top of
the tallest pine tree
singing with the sunlight
of a crisp morning
A moment longer
lines fade into
a nearby
but distant past
Some mornings, the world steadies me before I can steady myself.

This is beautiful to read, Nichelle! It reads like the words leapt right out of you.
